“Before the function centre maestro Paul Signorelli opened his eponymous pizzeria, trattoria and gourmet food store in 2010, the options for a business lunch in Pyrmont were few and far between. Now this slick, all-black cave on the ground floor of the Accenture building is busy serving the working lunch crowd on weekdays and local apartment dwellers on weekends. Order the signature antipasto platter, or opt for equally simple primi such as warm goat’s cheese studded with truffles and encased in flaky pastry, or trout carpacccio marinated in beetroot juices, with a scattering of baby capers and onion shavings. A margherita pizza from the wood-fired oven flies the Italian colours with pride, although house-made gnocchi with bug meat and asparagus in a creamy tomato sauce was sadly gritty. There’s even a Nutella pizza on the dessert menu for the adventurous, but cannoli filled with orange chocolate and served in a puddle of semolina custard is enough for the rest of us.”
